VFS Global UK Visa Application Centre

VFS Global manages the Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Jamaica operated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kingston. The VAC address is:

The VAC is open Monday to Friday, with the exception of some holidays and other closures (see public holidays and closures). Opening hours are

08:00 – 12:00: Application submission
14:00 – 16:00: Document collection

Access to the VAC is by prior appointment only. To schedule an appointment you need to visit the UK government website for visas and immigration in Jamaica.

You will need to bring the following documents with you when you attend the VAC:

  • Your passport
  • Appointment Confirmation Notice (this can be an electronic copy on your phone, or a hard copy)
  • Printed Visa Application Form (Visa4UK applicants) or Printed Checklist (Access UK applicants)
  • Supporting documents
  • For applicants who are exempt from giving biometrics: 1 recent passport-sized (45mm x 35mm) colour photograph of your face, which meets the requirements of UKVI’s photograph guidance

Applicants under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult when enrolling their biometric data.

UK Settlement applications are handled differently. Once you have enrolled your biometrics, your passport and Appendix 2 will be sent to the British High Commission, Kingston. The decision on your application, however, will be made at the UKVI Decision Making Centre in Sheffield, United Kingdom. Once you have completed the application process at the Application Centre, you or your representative/sponsor must send all original supporting documents PLUS photocopies to UK Visas and Immigration, Sheffield. The full set of documents must be received within 2 weeks of the date of your submission appointment. Further information on what documents you will need to include will be given to you at your appointment. Once a decision has been made on your application, the passport will be sent to the VAC where the application was lodged for collection or to be sent directly to your home address. Customers with disabilities

All visa application centres have step-free access for wheelchairs. Applicants who have a disability or who have accessibility requirements are encouraged to bring someone to assist them. Lifts are also accessible for use where necessary. Please note that VFS Global staff will be available to assist any applicant with special needs.

Security information and restrictions

Please note that access to the Visa Application Centre (VAC) is restricted to visa applicants only. The only exceptions to this policy are:

  • Children less than 18 years of age need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This cannot be a member of the Visa Application Centre staff.
  • Elderly, medically infirm or disabled applicants who require assistance in order to submit their applications. Applicants who fall into these categories should advise the security staff on arrival at the VAC.

Mobile phones are permitted in the Visa Application Centre, but they must be switched to silent or vibrate mode. They should be switched on before entering the VAC. Devices that cannot be switched on cannot be taken into the Visa Application Centre.
Under no circumstances is photography, filming or audio recording permitted. Mobile phones have to be put away when you are dealing with our staff.
Only one airline cabin size bag  45 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm (18” x 12” x 8”) per applicant is permitted in the VAC. Larger bags cannot be taken into the Visa Application Centre and must be stored elsewhere.

For security reasons the following items will not be permitted inside the Visa Application Centre.

  • All battery operated or electronic items such cameras, tablets, audio/video cassettes, compact discs, MP3s, floppies, laptops, or portable music players ,hard disk drive (HDDs), pen/thumb drives, spy devices, audio recorders, or other devices which can hinder the centre’s functioning
  • Sealed envelopes or packages.
  • Any inflammable item such as matchboxes/ lighters/ electric cigarettes /fuel.
  • Any sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail filers.
  • Weapons, weapon - like objects or explosive material of any kind.

Other items may be prohibited based on security staff discretion.

Please note: The Visa Application Centre is unable to store prohibited items. Applicants should make other arrangements to store these belongings before they enter the Visa Application Centre.

Data Protection Act

The Data Protection Act prevents the UK visas and immigration and VFS Global from providing information about an application to anybody other than the individual visa applicant or their authorised representative.
