Priority visa service

Available in Jamaica

Price: GBP 212 for each priority visa application.

You can pay for a Priority Visa service for your visit, work or study application (‘non settlement’). This will put your application at the front of the queue at every stage of the decision-making process. The cost of this service is in addition to your visa application fee and is non-refundable if the visa application is refused, or in exceptional cases, if it takes longer to process. Using the Priority Visa service does not guarantee that your application will be successful. All visa applicants must meet the requirements of the UK Immigration Rules.

How long does a Priority Visa application take?

UKVI aims to make a decision on your Priority Visa application, and contact you to let you know that your passport is ready to be collected within 5 working days from when you submit your biometric information.

However, every application is unique, and if your application is not straightforward, it may not be possible to meet this timescale. If this is the case, your application will still be put at the front of the queue at every stage of the decision-making process, and UKVI will aim to process your application within global customer service standards. Your application may not be straightforward if you have:

  • been refused a visa for the UK, and/or;
  • been refused leave to enter the UK, and/or;
  • been deported, removed, or otherwise required to leave the UK, and/or;
  • overstayed a period of leave in the UK, and/or;
  • had leave to remain in the UK curtailed by the Home Office, and/or;
  • been refused leave to remain in the UK by the Home Office, and/or;
  • been refused a visa for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United States of America, or the Schengen countries, and/or;
  • you have been interviewed, detained, or prosecuted by the police for any offence in the UK or elsewhere, and/or;
  • you have an unspent criminal conviction in any country, and/or;
  • you have committed a criminal offence in any country.

If you fall into one of these categories, you may not want to use the Priority Visa service, as UKVI may be unable to process your application within the 5-day timescale.

Who can use this service?

All customers may apply for the Priority Visa service apart from applicants who are applying for visas to visit other Commonwealth countries, British Overseas Territories, and Crown Dependencies (the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man).

Keep My Passport When Applying

Available in Jamaica

Price: USD 57 for each visa application

Frequent travelers and those applying for two visas at the same time will now be able to use the Keep My Passport When Applying service. This user-pay service allows customers to keep their passports during the processing period.

Customers simply need to apply for their visa as normal and then while at the Visa Application Centre (VAC) they can pay to use the service and submit copies of each page of their passport with the application.

Once their visa application has been processed applicants will be contacted by VFS and will need to submit their passports at the VAC in order to get their visas.

This service is helpful for those who need to travel regularly on their passport while also needing to apply for their UK visa. It also allows those combining a trip to the UK with Europe or the USA to apply for both visas at the same time.

Who can use the service?

This service is open to all visa applicants.

How much does the service cost?

The Keep My Passport When Applying service will cost GBP 51.00 per applicant.

How long will it take to get my visa?

Your visa application will be considered in the normal queue and within UKVI’s standard 15 business day processing times. Once a visa decision has been reached the applicant will need to submit their passport at the VAC and will have the passport returned within 3 working days.

Check and Certify

Available in Jamaica

Price: USD18.00 for each visa application

This Service allows for a series of pre-checks and initial validation on certain key supporting documents to be performed. This same-day verification can accelerate the assessment by the UKVI Decision Making Centre on an application.

Document Certification Services:

Price: USD $10 for each document certified.

This service allows applicants applying for one of the PBS visa categories (see below list) to allow a VFS staff to certify a copy of an original document. This allows the applicant to retain all original documents such as degrees, diplomas or birth certificates and allow VFS to certify and submit a confirmed photocopy in its place. Upon the payment of the Certification fee, VFS staff will check your original document and certify your photocopy as a true copy of the original so that you can keep your original document.

Important note: You must present the original document at the time of your application submission at the Visa Application Centre so that this can be checked by VFS staff. Applicants are free to bring their own photocopies – with the original – or they can receive photocopies at the VAC. The purchase of the Document Certification service will not affect the decision on your visa application nor is it proof of the validity of a document. VFS is only certifying the photocopy as a true copy of the original presented inside the VAC, which allows the applicant to retain original documents. VFS staff will not be liable for the validity or legitimacy of the original document.

Only PBS visa applicants may apply for this service. VFS can only certify the documents which UKVI mandates for the original to be submitted. Documents not listed on the UKVI guidance as requirements may not be certified by VFS staff. Please feel free to ask a VFS staff in the VAC if you have questions about this service.

Please see below the list of categories under the PBS route and click the names to access the corresponding document guidance:
