PASSPORT COLLECTION- TORONTO: A nominated person can collect your documents on your behalf. They will need to provide an authorisation letter signed by you, your receipt and proof of their identity.

You will need to bring the following documents with you when you attend the VAC:

  • Your passport
  • Appointment Confirmation Notice
  • Supporting documents
  • Passport Photographs - Commencing 22 March 2016, passport photographs will no longer be required from applicants submitting their biometrics. However, applicants exempt from giving biometrics will need to carry a passport photograph. Please visit the https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/exempt-exm/exempt-exm for applicants who are exempt from giving biometrics.

Note for all Settlement cases applied for in Toronto:

With effect from 25 May 2015, all settlement applications submitted in Toronto must be submitted at the Visa Application Centre in Toronto. They cannot be sent directly by the applicant or their representative. All applicants are advised that they MUST bring all of their original supporting documents along with a photocopy of each document to their Visa Appointment.

Failure to provide photocopies along with your original documents may result in delays when you are submitting your application. Photocopying services are available at the Toronto VAC at a cost of $1.00 per copy. If we are unable to provide this photocopying service for oversized documents, we may have to request you to return with the required photocopies before your application can be accepted

  • The instruction above is only for the submission of settlement applications at the Toronto VAC. VACs located in Vancouver, Edmonton and Ottawa will accept your application with originals as per current process.

Applicants under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult when enrolling their biometric data

Price: USD 75.00 This consists of:

  • Service charge for the VAC (User Pay) appointment
  • Outbound delivery of documents to the UK Visas and Immigration Decision Making Centre (DMC).
  • Return delivery of documents from the UK Visas and Immigration Decision Making Centre (DMC) to the applicants preferred delivery address.

All applications are by prior appointment only.

The fee paid for the VAC (User Pay) is in addition to the visa application fee. The service fee for the VAC (User Pay) must be paid online on this website immediately following the completion of the online visa application and appointment confirmation. The USD 75.00 fee covers the VAC (User Pay) service fee and the courier shipments to the UK visas and immigration Decision Making Centre and back to your preferred mailing address.

The VAC (User Pay) fee is not refundable if the visa application is refused or if the applicant fails to cancel their appointment within 48 hours of their scheduled appointment.

Note that this service is free for applicants who are applying for a European Economic Area Family Permit/Swiss National Family Member visa.

The VAC (User Pay) service uses the Home Office’s mobile Biometric Enrolment System (BES) equipment to take biometric data (finger scans and digital photograph).

Please note: Although we make every effort to ensure that the VAC (User Pay) takes place as advertised, incidents beyond our control (such as natural disasters, security issues, etc.) may cause disruption and impact our ability to run the VAC (User Pay). In the unlikely event that we are unable to collect your biometrics on your date of appointment, we will either offer you an appointment at the next scheduled clinic or, if you prefer, provide you with a full refund.

Additional services (also known as ‘user pay services’)

We offer a range of optional additional services to help you with your visa application. To use them, you will need to pay an extra fee in addition to the visa application fee.

Customers with disabilities

All visa application centres have step-free access for wheelchairs. Applicants who have a disability or who have accessibility requirements are encouraged to bring someone to assist them. Lifts are also accessible for use where necessary. Please note that VFS Global staff will be available to assist any applicant with special needs.

Security information and restrictions: What not to bring to the visa application centre

Please note that access to the visa application centre is restricted to visa applicants only. The only exceptions to this policy are:

  • Children less than 18 years of age need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This cannot be a member of the visa application centre staff.
  • Elderly, medically infirm or disabled applicants who require assistance in order to submit their applications. Applicants who fall into these categories should advise the security staff on arrival at the VAC.

Mobile phones and Tablets are permitted in the visa application centre, but they must be switched to silent or vibrate mode. They should be switched on before entering the VAC. Devices that cannot be switched on cannot be taken into the visa application centre.

Under no circumstances is photography, filming or audio recording permitted. Mobile phones have to be put away when you are dealing with our staff.

Only one airline cabin size bag 55 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm alternatively 21.5” x 13.5” x 8" per applicant is permitted in the VAC . Larger bags cannot be taken into the visa application centre and must be stored elsewhere.

For security reasons the following items will not be permitted inside the visa application centre.

  • All battery operated or electronic items such cameras, audio/video cassettes, compact discs, MP3s, floppies, laptops, or portable music players ,hard disk drive (HDDs), pen/thumb drives, spy devices, audio recorders, or other devices which can hinder the centre’s functioning
  • Sealed envelopes or packages.
  • Any inflammable item such as matchboxes/ lighters/ electric cigarettes /fuel.
  • Any sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail filers.
  • Weapons, weapon - like objects or explosive material of any kind.

Other items may be prohibited based on security staff discretion.

Please note: The visa application centre is unable to store prohibited items. Applicants should make other arrangements to store these belongings before they enter the visa application centre.

Data Protection Act

The Data Protection Act prevents UK visas and immigration and VFS Global from providing information about an application to anybody other than the individual visa applicant or their authorised representative.
