The VAC is a user pay Visa Application Service offering UK visa applicants the option to submit their supporting documents and enroll their biometric data in the Bahamas. The Visa Application Centre is open once a month during low season and bi-weekly during peak season. All applications are by prior appointment only. You will need to bring the following documents with you when you attend the Visa Application Centre (User Pay):
Children less than 18 years of age who arrive at the visa application centre to apply for a visa need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This cannot be a member of the visa application staff.
Applicants who choose to submit their visa applications in Bahamas are required to pay an additional fee of £55. This fee is automatically included in the charges on the AccessUK website at the time of paying your visa application fee. The charge will appear as a User Pay fee on your payment confirmation page below your visa fee on AccessUK. It will also be listed on the printed visa application form (VAF). The GBP 55 fee covers the Visa Application Centre service fee and the courier shipments to the UK Visas and Immigration Decision Making Centre in New York, (British High Commission in Kingston for Settlement applications), and back to your preferred mailing address.
The Visa Application Centre (User Pay) Service fee is not refundable if the visa application is refused or if the applicant fails to cancel their appointment within 48 hours of their scheduled appointment.
Note that this service is free for applicants who are applying for a European Economic Area Family Permit/Swiss National Family Member visa.
The Visa Application Centre uses the Home Office’s mobile Biometric Enrolment System (BES) equipment to take biometric data (finger scans and digital photograph).
Please note: Although we make every effort to ensure that the Visa Application Centre (User Pay) Service takes place as advertised, incidents beyond our control (such as natural disasters, security issues, etc.) may cause disruption and impact our ability to run the Visa Application Centre (User Pay) Service. In the unlikely event that we are unable to collect your biometrics on your date of appointment, we will either offer you an appointment at the next scheduled service date or, if you prefer, provide you with a full refund.
All visa application centres have step-free access for wheelchairs. Applicants who have a disability or who have accessibility requirements are encouraged to bring someone to assist them. Please note that IOM staff will be available to assist any applicant with special needs.
Please note that access to the TEL is restricted to visa applicants only. The only exceptions to this policy are:
Mobile phones and Tablets are permitted in the visa application centre, but they must be switched to silent or vibrate mode. They should be switched on before entering the VAC. Devices that cannot be switched on cannot be taken into the TEL.
Under no circumstances is photography, filming or audio recording permitted. Mobile phones have to be put away when you are dealing with our staff.
Only one airline cabin size bag 55 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm alternatively 21.5” x 13.5” x 8" per applicant is permitted in the TEL. Larger bags cannot be taken into the TEL and must be stored elsewhere.
For security reasons the following items will not be permitted inside the TEL:
Other items may be prohibited based on security staff discretion.
Please note: The TEL is unable to store prohibited items. Applicants should make other arrangements to store their belongings before they enter the TEL.
The Data Protection Act prevents the UK visas and immigration and VFS Global from providing information about an application to anybody other than the individual visa applicant or their authorised representative.
